No software update: error -1001

Hi all...
For some reason I get this message when I try to software update:
"A networking error has occurred: timed out (-1001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again."
This has never happend before - do I need to be worried or is this a problem at Apple's end?
I can still access the net etc with no probs.
