AMD Sempron Processors vs. Intel Pentium

Ok I know that most people use the Intel Pentium but why ?... I really think that AMD is much better. I have AMD Sempron in other words the smallest, slowest processors the had at the time I bought it. My mom has Intel Pentium Processor 4, she has 512MB of RAM I have 512MB of RAM. Her computer goes sooooooooo slow and mine goes much much much faster, given that my computer is new but its only 3 months newer than hers. So why is her computer going so slow, I say its the processor, I searched the web for more information and I really cant find the difference between AMD Processors and Intel Pentium Processors exept for the price! My computer came with a AMD Seleron processor, video card, DVD CD writer, multi-card plug in, and 160GB of hard drive. My moms computer came with an Intel Pentium4 processor, DVD CD writer, 120GB hard drive. Both computers and Compaq. My computer cost $564 and her computer cost $912. Now you do the math, which processor you think is best. I just made this post in hopes that if someone was considering buying a computer they would consider getting one with AMD Processors

I think they choose Intel, because they know the name, and they think it's the best. Most of the people that have Intel, have never heard of AMD, or just didn't want to take the time to try it out.

Intel isn't a bad brand, it's just that some of their processors aren't reliable. The Pentium 4 line is one of these. Pentium 4 was released without being properly tested. Their Celeron line is a bunch of prototypes that are known to fail at any time, hence the reason that Celeron-running computers come cheaper. However, their Core Duo processors, using the 65-nanometer process much better (Well, at least for the Macs they have.)

i personally think that amd and intel are both very good processors... my mom's computer i built for her, has a P4 2.4 in it, overclocked to a P4 3.0... lol... the computer i built for my sister is just a basic one and its got an AMD 2800+ in it...

i think intel is better for doing pictures, video editing, cgi, photoshop, shit like that, you know? and amd is better for gaming and anything else hardcore like that...

intel processors are much faster than amd, but amd processors can handle a much bigger load than intel

Ok to answer your fist question most people use Pentiums over Semprons is because most computers, especially Dells are bundled with Intel procs.

I prefer AMD over Intel. They are a better company and produce a better product. Intel chips generally run hotter and dont overclock anywhere near as well as AMDs.

There are many factors that contribute to a slower computer. It can be more than just the proc I hope you know that. There really isnt much diff. between these procs they are both 32bit procs and low end.

Now when you say "people" do you mean regular people that use computers or people that game? AMD doesnt have as many big deals with large computer like Dell or Hp as Intel thats why a majority of computer have "Intel Inside".

The Sempron is low end. Might as well just get a Athlon 64 3200+ and have better performance at not that much more.

It depends on which series you are talking about first of all. You cant say Intel Processors are faster.

Are you going by the clock speed i.e. 2.0ghz Athlon 64 vs 2.4 Pentium4?

The AMD is clocked slower but would whip the Intels butt.

The FX-60 is the fastest processor availible and it is made by AMD. It is just a Athlon 64 made with better parts.

Hey man Intels if you OC them they become very unstable. AMDs if you OC them they are very stable AMD expects you to overclock then. In general AMDs are WAY more stable than Intel chips. Man you guys are a bunch of noobs in every sense of the word.
