Ok Im the process of downloading this. Its huge its like 3Gbs. I dont have a DVD burner so I just guess I will have to mount this onto the hard drive. I have read reviews of Vista Beta in Maximum PC and they said that they aren't too impressed. Microsoft needs to polish this much more for its final release in Jan. 07 they say to actually make this an OS worth buying.

Don't believe everything you read. Try it out for yourself.

Microsoft does have to work out a few things, but that is nothing new for any new software.

Yes I realize that but I do repsect Maximum PCs opinion. Also yes I know that with any knew software they gotta work out the kinks but the reviews of Vista in Maximum PC said that he was looking at Vista overall as an OS not critiquing little glitches that will be fixed for the final release. Overall they just werent blown away as Microsoft say the user would be. I will try it out for myself soon and I will give my two cents.

Of course Maximum PC is not going to be blow away as a end user might be. Maximum PC looks at PC items all day long.

If you look at XP, then you look at Vista, the changes are great. Besides that, look at the hardware you need to run Vista. If they did even more to the software, no one would even think of buying the OS just because of the hardware upgrade they would need.

I really like what they have done with Vista and Office 2007. I am not blow away by it. But I am not a end user either.

The one good thing Maximum PC has wrote was on power supplies. I did like that write up.

Gavilan, get on AIM please. I can't log onto ForumFinder. Says my account is locked!

I have looked at Vista's Hardware requirements and actually that arent too high.

The very minimum is...

A Windows Vista-capable PC includes at least:

- A modern processor (at least 800MHz)
- 512MB of system memory
- A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable.

A Windows Vista Premium-ready PC includes at least:

- 1GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
- 1GB of system memory
- A graphics processor that runs Windows Aero
- 128MB of graphics memory
- 40GB of hard drive capacity with 15GB free space
- A DVD-ROM drive
- Audio output capability
- Internet access capability.

Not too steep for the basic version. Pretty much any new desktop or laptop for sale right now can handle Vista lite. Premium is a different story. If you go to Microsoft's page, you'll notice footnotes after the Premium version processor and GPU requirements. According to the outline on that page, to run Aero on a single display at 1280x1024 (the native resolution of most LCDs), you'll need at least 128MB of dedicated graphics memory. If you need 1GB of memory for the Premium Vista, that rules out any of the current-gen Intel or other integrated chips. You can also forget about most of the lower-end HyperMemory/TurboCache 3D cards from Nvidia and ATI, because those chips share all or part of the system memory for graphics, taking away from the overall system memory total.
